Socks, Socks and More Socks!!!

The Socks have officially gotten out of control! We have a perpetual sock basket and now it has doubled to TWO baskets. It's time to illiminate and downsize. I told the kids I would pay them a nickel for every match they made. They only got through about a third of the socks before they couldn't take it any more. The D.I is going to be replenished soon!

Connor's art is amazing to me! (Of course I'm a biased mother) But really, he is 5, hasn't even started school yet and he is drawing pretty good stuff. He has started adding more detail lately like hair on Wolverine's arms! love that!

Valentines Day Misc

Valentine's Day usually isn't one of my favorite holidays but I have to say I might change my mind after this year. I felt the purpose of Valentines Day, showing those you love how much they mean to you. I made my traditional sugar cookies. Connor was so happy, they are his favorite! We have had him on a sort of diet, limiting snacks, sugar and white carbs. He was especially excited about the cookies and it was so cute! We shared some of the cookies with friends and that was fun too. Bryce gave me some beautiful flowers. I look forward to Valentines day for that reason, it's pretty much the only time I get flowers. Bryce and I went out to dinner to P.F. Changs, another V-day tradition for us. We saw the movie Valentine's Day and had a great evening. I love him so much, I'm so lucky he's my Valentine.

Barnett Choir at the Utah Flash Game

Marlie's choir was invited to sing at the Utah Flash basketball game. They sang "God Bless the USA" before the Payson High School choir sang the National Anthem. It was really neat and a great experience for the kids. You can see them here, standing behind the team.

Superbowl Splurge!

In our family the Superbowl is all about the FOOD!! Seriously, I didn't even know who was playing in the Superbowl until the end of the first quarter! Ha,ha! This was our second annual Fry Fest with my brother Scott and his family. In addition to the fry fest, we broke-in the new chocolate fountain!! What's a few more thousand calories!? We made homemade corndogs and cheese on a stick. Scott fried Snickers, Reeses and chocolate Zingers. The Reeses were the best and one bite of the Zinger made Katie and I both gag! It was just too much! We also had artichoke dip, stuffed mushrooms and little smokies wrapped in bacon. We did actually have a vegetable tray, you can see from the picture how popular that was! All I can say is that it's a good thing the Superbowl only comes around once a year! It took a few days to recover from this splurge!

Marlie's N.O.V.A Graduation

The sixth graders go through a character education course. It is a six week course given by a law enforcement officer. It is kinda of like the old D.A.R.E program except for they learn more about building personal character and life planning strategies. Marlie loved it and learned some great things. All of the sixth graders were required to write an essay in order to graduate from the program. Five of the students were chosen to read their essays at the graduation. Marlie was one of the five that was chosen. She did a great job and we are so proud of her.

Connor Lost His First Tooth!

This post is a little bit out of order. When we were in Idaho for Christmas Connor lost his first tooth. I was pretty surprised that he had a loose tooth already. He is 5 but he hasn't started school yet so it just seems like he's too young to be loosing teeth! He did not want anyone to touch it or help him wiggle it. He didn't eat much for about a day and then he finally was too hungry and tried to start eating again. It didn't take much for it to come out. He was so relieved and excited that the tooth fairy would come.
