Happy Pioneer Day!

We had a fun 24th of July. At night we went to Spanish Fork to watch the fireworks. A lot of our friends from our ward went with us. Moores, Huffs, Walkers, Warrens, Siafanuas, Durrants, and Roulstones all were there and we had a lot of fun hanging out together. The kids had fun with all of the glow sticks we brought. Of course Connor made his into Wolverine claws!

STATE CHAMPIONS!!

Marlie's softball team, the White Sox, won their state tournament! They were undefeated in their regular season and only had one loss in the tournament. The team they beat in the championship game were the state champs last year which made stealing the title from them even more sweet. It has been so fun going to the games and seeing these girls change and improve over the season. They are a great bunch of girls and Marlie was so lucky to be on this team. She had a great coach, Greg Madsen. He is so good with the girls, very positive and patient. I can't say enough good things about him, he is really great. We are so proud of Marlie for always trying to do her best and being a good teammate! Congratulations White Sox on a perfect season!

The Wii is not a fitness plan

For thirteen years I successfully avoided having a game system. I argued that we didn't need anything else to help waste time. The kids already spend too much time in front of the t.v. Well I got convinced by not only my kids but friends and neighbors that the Wii is "different". It gives you exercise because you have to physically be moving to play most of the games. I bought it and bought the Wii for Christmas last year. Well 7 months later I can say that the Wii is not a fitness program! These pictures are proof!!! Connor plays the Wii a lot and obviously it hasn't done much for his physique!! If you are wondering what is on his face, it's toilet paper. He tied it around his face, under is nose because he didn't like the smell of the dinner I was cooking. It was sauteed vegetables, not his favorite, another reason he is so "healthy" looking. Sigh...... we are going to get a real fitness plan!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Going to the parade in Provo has a always been a tradition for me growing up. Every year I say I'm not going to do it again and then I forget by the next year, how unfun it is, and I go again! This year was no different! I didn't think it would be that bad, going early, trying to find a place to park, trying to find a place to sit, the heat, the rude,crazy people, all of the things that the memory fades on from all of the previous years. The pictures tell the story of how the day went, well at least from the time we actually sat down at the parade. Everything started out okay but gradually turned ugly. It was really hot but somehow still managed to rain a little, just enough to throw Connor into a downward spiral. It kept getting hotter and hotter. Marlie and Connor wanted to go home and made it impossible for the rest of us to try and enjoy the parade. Connor got happy for about 1 minute when the fat Captain America went by, he really liked that part!

WHEW!!!! We survived the parade! I am writing myself a note so I won't forget, NO PARADE NEXT YEAR! I think we might try the hot air balloon festival instead. The rest of the day was really fun. We went over to Bryce's brother Ryan's house. He has a nice pool and the kids had a blast! Bryce and I decided to sit out this time since we still had some activities for the rest of the day and didn't want to wear clorine all day and night. Besides, the pool was pretty full with all of the kids. Some of Cori's siblings and their families came over too and we had a BBQ. Lynnette and her family and Bryce's parents were there too. It was a lot of fun hanging out at Ryan's. Lynnette and Doug and their kids met us in Provo at night to watch the fireworks. We sat in a parking lot on the State St. hill in Orem. We had a pretty good view and avoided all of the stadium traffic. The kids did some sparklers and smoke bombs too. It was a great 4th of July. I am so gratefu to live in the United States. I have lived in other countries and I can't stress enough how great the U.S. is. We are so blessed. I am proud to be an American and feel that it is one of my greatest blessings.

The All American Pastime--BASEBALL !!!!

One of my favorite times of the year is sadly coming to an end! I love baseball season. I live in the car and at the ball fields during baseball season. I am busy being the taxi to practices and games almost every day of the week. Sometimes it gets pretty tricky having 3 kids playing. Sometimes their game times overlap and of course they play at three different locations. It might sound like I'm complaining but I'm really not, I love baseball and I especially love watching my kids play. It is fun to see how they improve every year. Keaton has made huge improvements with his hitting this year. It has been really exciting to see him get some big hits. Marlies team is really good this year, they are undefeated. Tournaments start next week so I still have a few more games to enjoy before I have to say goodbye to my favorite summer pastime!
